For years, the market for high-end optical components has been dominated by a handful of global players. Today, a 30-year-old researcher from Changsha is leading a team that is making new breakthroughs in the field.

光学元件市场长期由少数国际企业占据主导地位。如今，一位30岁的长沙青年科研人员，正带领团队在这一领域实现新的突破。

Yang Yang, who holds a master's degree from Hunan University, led his team in advancing liquid crystal micro- and nanotechnology and establishing China's first mass-production line for the technology. Today, only three companies worldwide have mastered it, and his company is the only one in China. Its processing precision is more than ten times higher than that of comparable equipment.

He also brought tens of thousands of optical products onto Lubang Mall, an online platform designed to make sourcing easier for researchers. What once took one or two months and coordination with dozens of suppliers can now, in many cases, be completed with a few clicks.

更值得关注的是，他还把上万款光学产品搬上了“麓邦商城”。过去，科研人员为了配齐实验器件，往往要花一两个月、联系几十家供应商；如今，很多产品都可以直接在线下单。

From quantum communications and semiconductors to 3D printing, optical components made in Changsha are finding their way into a growing range of frontier technologies—and onto the global stage.
