算盘打出国际范：湖南创世界珠心算比赛历史最佳成绩

Recently, the 9th Competition of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic (WAAMA) just wrapped up in Beijing, bringing together 254 participants from 11 countries and regions — including China, Australia, Malaysia, Russia, and South Korea — making it the largest edition yet. Teams competed across five age groups, solving complex calculations with nothing but beads and brainpower.

近日，世界珠算心算联合会第九届珠心算比赛在北京落幕。来自中国、澳大利亚、马来西亚、俄罗斯、韩国等11个国家和地区的254名选手同台竞技，为历届规模之最。五个年龄组别的选手仅凭算盘与脑力完成复杂运算。

A 15-member team from Hunan, China delivered its best-ever result: first-place team finishes in all three categories it entered, and 12 individual first prizes — ranking second nationally in individual awards. One Hunan athlete also represented China's national team, earning three individual golds and helping secure the team special prize.

湖南队派出15名选手，取得历史最佳成绩：所参加的三个组别均获团体一等奖（与另外两支队伍并列全国第一），斩获12个个人一等奖（获奖数全国第二）。其中1名湖南选手代表中国国家队出战，个人收获3项一等奖，并助力国家队夺得选手组团体特等奖。

Chinese abacus arithmetic was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2013. More than a decade later, this 1,800-year-old skill is still connecting math lovers across the world.
